2016 Budget Speech Summary By ENSafrica #moneymonday

The Honourable Minister of Finance read the 2016 South African budget speech on 24 February 2016. In this summary, we address only the revenue (i.e. tax) side of the budget proposals. As this budget speech has received an unusual amount of interest, we have set out the tax proposals in more detail than usual, although this summary is not intended to be comprehensive.

The economic growth outlook for 2016 has been revised down to 0.9%. Tax revenues are projected to be R11.6-billion down; corporate tax is estimated to be R13-billion down; value added tax (“VAT”) is to be R5.7-billion down and personal income tax R1.9-billion down. On the other hand, customs duties should increase by R4.3-billion. Read the rest of this entry »

Quick Guidelines On How to Avoid Getting Ignored On WatsApp

1. The first thing to do when you chatting to someone who does not have your number is to make sure you have a name set up on your Watsapp that they can actually recognize.

2. In the absence of such a name, you may opt to have your actual picture loaded onto Watsapp

3. You may even have on your Bio a little quote or bible verse that they might recognize and relate back to you (assuming they know you very well)

4. In the absence of all the mentioned above.. you may not just pop up and say hello and hope they will recognize your handwriting and jump into buddy buddy mode.

5. You may not Watsapp someone for a casual chat if their bio specifically states business only (Unless its an emergency or you sending a message to inform them that Zuma is no longer president or a piano has fallen from the sky and its headed their direction)

6. If the person you Watsappin’ does not know you, you will have to type in a greetings message, place a coma right after the ‘Hello’ or ‘Hi’, or ‘Yo Fam’ (if they are your family that is), and after the coma begin to state the reason of you getting into contact with them.

7. Exceptions to the rule… You may skip guideline 6 for reasons covered in guideline 5 or if you sending nudes and have no doubt to believe that the recipient will find them to be in good taste, this also assumes that you know what they like.

8. You may not send items listed in guideline 7 if the person they are intended for is taken!! or if the person is an idiot and you know for sure they will share the nudes with their friends or worse, upload them on social media.

9. Should you opt to not obey guideline 9… I don’t know really, that is just very wrong!! And you really shouldn’t be sending nudes as you creating unnecessary thirst.

10. If for any reason you do follow the given steps and your message isn’t responded to, do not panic, the person can either really be ignoring you, or they currently busy (in the gym or work or driving) and they will respond when they find the time (also note that a Watsapp message does not indicate an emergency, if you really need to get hold of the person please give them a call.)

Why Kanye West’s Album Is Not Available On iTunes & Your Local Music Store #moneymonday

“Throughout history, every movement began with a few individuals banding together with a shared vision – a vision to change the status quo.”

A revolution is started usually with one single bold step!! Much like how Kanye decided to release his new album The Life Of Pablo exclusively on Tidal and ditch the normal popular route of making it available on platforms like iTunes and Spotify. So a while back Jay z and a couple other artists like Beyonce, Madonna, J Cole, Kanye, Lil Wayne, Rihanna and many others decided to take their music back, decided the royalties Youtube and Spotify were offering were an insult to the music industry and their art. So they decided to own their music and converting to what we call in business Vertical integration and own the Supply chain of their music. they did this by buying Tidal, a music monthly subscription streaming service that promises to pay higher royalties to artists and bring back the dignity of their art.

What this means is, every-time one of them drop an album or video, it will be exclusively available for streaming on Tidal only for a given time period before they make it available to other platforms. Much like what Rihanna did with her new album Anti, like what Weezy did with his mixtape FWA, Like what Beyonce did with her new single Formation and recently like what Kanye did with his new album The Life Of Pablo.

Tidal was bought for $56 million dollars and is now rumored to be worth well over $250 million Dollars much thanks to the exclusive rights it gets for newly released albums. With the release of Kanye’s album Tidal shot up the charts as the most downloaded app on the Apple App Store. I salute this bold move! Artist have long been robbed off their art and hard-work. Good to see black owning their art and stretching over to other areas of the business model, this is how we start building empires. next thing we ditching the Grammys for the TIDAL awards, watch the space…

“To Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, New York Times, and any other white publication. Please do not comment on black music anymore” Kanye West

Below is a Freestyle by Jay Z which addresses Spotify and other streaming services, along with the way Tidal has been portrayed in the media. The song was performed during his Tidal B-Sides concert, on the 16th of May in New York.

Lyrics…..

So I’m the bad guy now I hear, because I don’t go with the flow
Don’t ever go with the flow, be the flow
And I don’t need no middle man to talk to my niggas
I understand if you don’t understand, I figure I’m Jigga
That’s where we differ
I take what’s mine, you accept what they they give you, I get you
I don’t take no checks I take my respect
Pharrell even told me go with the safest bet
Jimmy Iovine offered a safety net
Google dangled around a crazy check
I feel like Youtube is the biggest culprit
Them niggas pay you a tenth of what you supposed to get

You know niggas die for equal pay right?
You know when I work I ain’t your slave right?
You know I ain’t shucking and jiving and high fiving
You know this ain’t back in the days right?
But I can’t tell, how the way they killed Freddie Gray right
Shot down Mike Brown how they did Tray right?
Let them continue choking niggas
We gonna turn style, I ain’t your token nigga

You know I came in this game independent right?
Tidal, my own label, same difference
Oh niggas is skeptical as their own shit
You bought 9 iPhones and Steve Jobs is rich
Phil Knight worth trillions you still bought those kicks
Spotify is 9 billion they ain’t say shit
Lucy you got some splaining to do

The only one they hating on look the same as you
That’s cool, I know they trying to bamboozle you
Spending millions on media trying to confuse you
I had to talk to myself, Hov you used to it
It’s politics as usual

50 Shades Of Trying To Fit In #BaeEpidemic

love don't cost a thing nick cannon - Google Search - Google Chrome_2015-02-08_19-22-15

‘It’s really overwhelming for one to live up to the standards set by a totally fictional flawless movie character’

Almost if not all of us are hypnotics. The proper authority saw to it that the proper belief should be induced, and the people believed properly. Just like how Cobb in Inception went about his business.

The self-hate epidemic, the media, and the music you listen to, your favourite rapper and musicians have somehow managed to filter through into our personalities, and they control perception and trends. They are the holders of the rule book, the trend setters. Wait till you hear Bae complain that you do not comply in accordance to Sam Smith’s lyrics. Or Harvey Spector would have done this or that. It’s really overwhelming for one to live up to the standards set by a totally fictional flawless movie character. Read the rest of this entry »

What Is Planned Obsolescence & Why You Should Be Mad #MoneyMonday

best-iphone-6-concept“Our enormously productive economy demands that we make consumption our way of life, that we convert the buying and use of goods into rituals, that we seek our spiritual satisfaction and our ego satisfaction in consumption. We need things consumed, burned up, worn out, replaced and discarded at an ever-increasing rate” Victor Lebow, economist, 1955

The simplest most twisted way I’d explain Planned Obsolescence is, imagine Apple was responsible for designing a girlfriend for you in exchange for money. Now with entity sustainability coming into the picture, Apple being the smart guy would not design a girlfriend for you that has all the features, because after 6 months or a year they want you to come back and purchase what they say is a better girlfriend. So what they do is the first girlfriend they design for you has amazing eyes that serve as a stand-out feature, but that’s all they place in the package! just pretty eyes and you go ahead and buy. 6 months down the line they design another girlfriend for you that now comes with pretty eyes and dimples; say by now Apple’s marketing initiatives has managed to convince poor gullible South Africans that dimples are the way to go and since you made to believe that you deserve better and you dump the girl you with now for the assumed upgrade….
